Bon maharaaja

My Spiritual His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaja, Founder of the Gaudiya Maths, decided to send me to England, Germany, Austria and Czechoslovakia to preach the Teachings of Lord Sri Krsna-Caitanya. For this purpose, I proceeded to England early in 1933 and delivered over two-hundred lectures on Indian Philosophy and Culture, particularly on the Message of Lord Caitanya at various Universities and Cultural Institutions in those countries till beginning of 1936. In my books ''My First Year in England'' and ''Second Year in Europe'', I had given a detailed account of my activities in those countries including details of the Universities and Institutions where I had delivered lectures on their invitations. While in England I was invited by late Dr. Gobbels of Hitler's Regime to lectures at twelve Universities in Germany which were read in German language and published from Berlin in the form of a book, called ''Die Gedanken uber den Hinduismus'' Subsequently, after the demise of my Spiritual Master I was invited by the ''International Congress of History of Religion'' at Marburg University in West Germany in 1960 and on that occasion I was invited by a large number Universities in West Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Sweden and Denmark. In 1973, I attended the ''International Congress of Philosophy'' under Unesco held at Verna in Bulgaria. I had also the opportunities of preaching the tenets of Sri Krsna-Caitanya in USA and Japan, and Burma in 1939-41 and again in USA and Canada in 1974-75. Unfortunatly, the full text of those lectures in most cases is not available as all my lectures were extempore and I had very rarely read out any paper prepared beforehand. While in England, Most Honourable the Marquis of Zetland, the British Secretary of State for India, Mr. R. A. Butler, Lord Irwin (Lord Halifax), Lord Goscen Lord Lamington, Sir Francis Younghusband, Sir Denison Ross, Director of School of Oriental Studies of the London University, Sir Michal Sadler of Oxford University, and such other eminent personalities of England were my admirers.

As matters stand today, very few people Know what I talked about in those countries which at that time elicited keen interest amongst the intelligentsia of those countries as also in India and the Press wide publicity. Now at the fag end of my life I have made an attempt to collect as many lectures as possible which were published in my Quaterly Research Journal ''Indian Philosophy & Culture'' which I edited for 22 years to publish in the form of this book so that the subjects of my preachings abroad are not completely burried in oblivion. It is, however, regretted that the collections made possible does not cover even one-tenth of my lectures in England and Germany. I shall consider my labour amply rewarded if the readers be benefitted out of these.
